The role of the nurse in the use of technology to improve the delivery of patient care has become increasingly apparent in recent years. In response, HIMSS is embarking on an initiative to build a community within its membership base for those with a role in nursing informatics. Guided by the Nursing Informatics Task Force, the mission for this community is "to promote and support the field of Nursing Informatics through knowledge sharing, advocacy, collaboration, innovation, community affiliations, and recommend/advise on public policy".
