HIMSS Annual Conference Reviewer

Thank you for your interest in acting as a HIMSS Annual Conference Reviewer. If you have any questions regarding involvement in this process, please feel free to email your questions to Adam Bazer, Manager of Annual Conference Education, at abazer@himss.org.

HIMSS Annual Conference Reviewers are the backbone of the entire Annual HIMSS Conference educational process. Reviewers are the first to see proposals submitted to HIMSS through the call for proposal process. Reviewers and their recommendations are incredibly important to the Annual Conference Education Committee and the role that they play in the proposal selection process. Finally, reviewers are an important resource for presentations that are selected to move forward to the annual conference; they act as coaches during the presentation preparation process and as moderators for the presentation during the conference.

See below for a list of the role/responsibilities for an Annual Conference Reviewer:

Role and Responsibilities:

  • There is a Reviewer Panel for each Topic Category of proposals
  • Each Reviewer Panel includes an ACEC (Annual Conference Education Committee) Representative
  • Each Reviewer is allocated a certain number of proposals to review.
  • The number of proposals allocated to each Reviewer depends on the number of reviewers on the panel and the number of proposals reviewed.
  • Each proposal is reviewed by a minimum of three Reviewers.
  • Reviewers score proposals based on the predefined criteria and prior evaluation ratings.
  • Reviewers meet via conference call to discuss all proposals and recommend a pre assigned number of proposals depending on the Topic Category.
  • The ACEC representative recommends the Reviewers proposed selection of sessions during their planning session.
  • Once the ACEC makes their final decision on which sessions will be presented, reviewers are informed and, if there is feedback on their presentation, they are informed of it, along with Reviewers suggestions
